Hybrid
Suddenly Japan and Euskal Herria met, dancing to the setting sun with the xirimiri (drizzling rain).
Dancer and choreographer Motoko Hirayama joined the Oreka TX band and Emi Toko, singer of the Ainu ethnic group. Together they created Hybrid.
The show is the result of the union of artists from cultures as ancient as they are diverse, eager for creation and research, who built a delightful proposal by merging their roots and creating new rhythms from dance and txalaparta, a contemporary perspective of artistic creation and staging.
The encounter between these distant cultures materialised with subtle strength, unusual in projects of this kind.
This Basque-Nippon project builds a bridge between almost opposing cultures; two edges of the margins of Eurasia; and between the dance of the one and the rhythm of the other, emerges this incomparable hybrid.
