Hostoak (Leaves)
‘Hostoak’ is an interdisciplinary conversation between the music of Oreka TX, the dance company Kukai and the polyphonic singing of Amaren Alabak.
It should be noted that they are all reference artists , in terms of contemporary approaches to traditional proposals in their respective disciplines.
Music and song are immersed in dance in this stage show and musical instruments are part of the choreographies, just as the dancers dance emulating the txalaparta “makilas” (drumsticks).
The name of the show, “Hostoak”, is a nod to the play between nature and culture, based on roots or traditions, to show the brightness of the leaves or flowers. The roots of the project are from traditional Basque culture but, from the branches of that trunk, sprout leaves of different shapes and colours, evoking an infinity of sensations and emotions.
